This week has been a blend of learning, growth and connection. As I explored Substack Notes for the first time, I discovered just how dynamic and meaningful engagement can be.
My first Note felt like a warm welcome – likes and comments came in and by the third day, 1% of those likes had converted into subscribers. By the fourth day, the rhythm shifted: fewer people saw the Note, some unsubscribed and the numbers slowed down. But instead of focusing on what didn’t work, I saw it as a moment to reflect and refine. Each experience, no matter how big or small, has its lessons to teach.
The real highlight of the week was “upgrading” my Substack. What started as a simple space has now evolved into two distinct publications: Jenn Sandra and Beyond Time Lapse. Both feel like cozy digital homes where I can share different aspects of my journey.
I spent time setting them up with care – editing descriptions, crafting updated about pages, writing welcome emails and even adding logos. It felt a bit like decorating a new space to reflect the energy I want to share.
I also introduced “Chat,” a space where I can interact more directly with readers. Seven wonderful souls joined the room and it was a reminder of how meaningful small, intimate gatherings can be. Still, I’d love to make it even cosier – maybe reimagining it as a virtual café, where we can “grab a cup of coffee or tea” together and share ideas. What do you think?
This Week’s Reflections and Gratitude
From this experience, three themes stand out:
- Reflection: Growth comes from both successes and challenges. Learning to adapt and refine is part of the journey.
- Gratitude: The Substack community has been a source of inspiration and encouragement. I’m thankful for every connection and insight.
- Planning ahead: Creativity thrives with a little structure. I’m excited to share tools and frameworks to help others navigate their own creative processes.
What’s Next?
In the coming weeks, I’ll share practical tips for setting up a Substack publication, creating spaces that reflect your authentic self and crafting a planning process that works for you – because we’re all busy and structure makes the difference.
